Who will be our 2024 Sports Day Champions?

The Home-Start in Suffolk Corporate Sport Day is back for 2024 and offers local businesses an afternoon of fun and team building activities whilst raising awareness and supporting Home-Start in Suffolk.

This year’s event will see a welcome return of the traditional sports day races including a 3-legged race, egg & spoon race, sack race and team relay race. Last year these highly contested races certainly got the afternoon off to a great start and set the competitive tone for the afternoon.

Our Sports Day will also include some individual activities including, Netball, Football & Golf challenges. One of our key event sponsors this year, Abbeycroft will also be bringing their climbing wall along with archery and axe throwing and David Lloyd Ipswich will also be returning for a second year with some fun sporting challenges.

For those participants not as keen on the physical activities, we also have a team challenge that may test the mind more than the body!

The afternoon’s fun activities will conclude with a BBQ and prize-winning presentation, where participants and our event sponsors will get an opportunity to network and enjoy some time socialising.

Entry Fee

The cost to take part is £600 per team and includes a branded team T shirt, BBQ and refreshments for all team members.

10 Well-known Suffolk professionals, from business owners to directors, professors to solicitors were thrown in the cells as they took part in the Home-Start Jail & Bail Fundraiser to help raise vital funds to support Families across the county.

The event took  place on Friday 8 March throughout the afternoon and the 10 prisoners were arrested in various locations in and around Woodbridge, with all detainees being taken to the Home-Start in Suffolk makeshift jail at the Shire Hall on the Market Hill in Woodbridge

Each of those ‘arrested’ were tasked with the challenge of raising their £1,000 Bail to secure their release and gain their freedom.

Home-Start’s Jailbirds, who were being arrested for a multitude of ridiculous and fictitious crimes, include Clare Lucas – Outsourcing Specialist, Matthew Shields – Investment Manager at RBC Brewin Dolphin, Clare Swann – Founder and owner of 1975winebar, Jane Billing – Director of Billie Box Ltd., Andy Skinner – Managing Director of AMS Business Consultants, Dr Ruth Flaherty – Senior Lecturer in Law at University of Suffolk, James Robbins – Partner at Marshall Hatchick LLP, Nicole Rickard – Head of Communities at East Suffolk Council and Ricky Dzierozynski – Chief Operating Officer at Sona Insurance Brokers and Kate Grant, director of the East of England Network for Cadent Gas.

Their crimes ranges included things such as excessive use of social media or being too box-tastic, to helping too many people get their ducks in a row, and spreading too much joy in the classroom

Suffolk Police made the arrests from 11.30 am on Friday, booking them in and handing them over to Home-Start’s judge, BBC Radio Suffolk’s breakfast show host, Wayne Bavin, for sentencing before slinging them in the cells at in the Shire Hall

It was such a fun day with a serious fundraising side.  Our prisoners were amazing and collectively raised more than £11,500 to help support families across our county who are really finding it tough at the moment.

Show your support for the Suffolk’s Most Wanted – help them to secure their bail for release!

Support Suffolk families this season and join in the Winter Appeal!

For the past 3 years hundreds of families have benefitted from your generosity and support in the lead up to the festive period through our vouchers campaign.

In the last 12 months Home-Start in Suffolk have supported more than 1,500 families (172% increase on the previous year!) and with so many struggling due to the rise in the cost of living and energy prices, we really need your support this year!

Our recent survey of supported families confirmed families were concerned about energy prices and heating their homes, clothing their children this winter, feeding their family and not being able to buy a gift for the children this Christmas

Support a Suffolk family this season and join in the Winter Appeal!

If you or your organisation would like to get involved and contribute to our Christmas Gift Cards Campaign for families we would like to suggest the following:

Gift Cards for the Supermarkets: Tesco . Morrisons . ASDA . Sainsbury’s . Lidl . Aldi

One 4 All gift Cards available from the Post Office

Energy vouchers can also be donated
